Finally, Spring!
April 23, 2008 | Posted by Kiki
You know spring is officially here when the line to get pretzel is to the end of the block.
A warning to the guy that snuck in to the side of the cart for his bottled water… I saw you. That was a s*%tty move, buddy.

Erica Hill and Anderson Cooper: A little more than BFF?
February 20, 2008 | Posted by SB
This could be the debate of the century. Am I the only one that notices a clear sexual tension between Erica Hill and Anderson Cooper? There’s definitely something flirty going on there.
On the other hand, you hear all the time that Anderson is gay, and just chooses not to be public about it. So that calls the flirtatious behavior into question.
There was always a little “chemistry” when Erica did her reports from CNN’s Atlanta HQ via satellite. Now that she’s based in NYC, game on girlfriend.
It is very entertaining though. They’re constantly teasing each other and laughing. So it can add a little levity on a boring or depressing night.
As I write this post, I’m discovering new details on the web. Turns out, Erica is married and has a kid, says Wikipedia. So perhaps they are just BFF.

Wall to wall coverage…of Wisonsin?
February 19, 2008 | Posted by SB
Ok, I’m just gonna say it…
Wall to tall coverage of the Wisconsin primary might have been just a bit too much. I mean, did it really require nonstop political coverage from 9pm to well after midnight? I’m gonna go with no.
There were litterally stretches when it seemed like David Gergen and Anderson Cooper were just out of things to talk about. They started talking about numbers, percentages, point spreads, etc. Mathematician’s wet dream? Yes. Public yawn? Yes.

AC 360 Blog…Blog
February 18, 2008 | Posted by SB
So we begin, the nightly (or at least semi-nightly) Anderson Cooper 360 dish. As a news junkie, night owl, and regular AC360 watcher, I feel a need to respond sometimes.
Unfortunately, I use to many adult words that the AC360 blog editors screen out. So my comments don’t always make it on to their blog, so I have to write them somewhere else. Here.
Tonight we begin an new endeavor, feel free to contribute. You never know what it will turn into. Who knows, this idea might die right away, but I hope not. Feel free to contribute.
We don’t have comment nazis like AC does, so comment away! ![]()

Run Naked January
January 8, 2008 | Posted by Kiki
I’m not sure if I’m concerned or just hoping that the heatwave will last through February. But seriously, WHAT THE F*#% IS GOING ON?
It’s the beginning of January and I can’t complain about anything. Today is the third day in a row of really nice weather… and my brain is not comprehending it. I look at the calendar and layer up, only to start stripping when I get outside. (Though in my neighborhood I can make a few bucks)
So, I guess I won’t need my jacket for a few more days…

American Gladiators and NYC
January 7, 2008 | Posted by Kiki
‘American Gladiators’ the show is back. It might be the best show on television for New Yorkers.
Let me explain.
About 3 seconds into each of the ‘challenges’ I can feel the blood start pumping through my veins the same way as when I find myself on a subway car that is getting filled up with obnoxious people pushing to get in.
I actually found myself jumping up, cheering on the underdog wondering if I went to the gym 6 days a week for 4 hours a day… how soon could I be talking to Hulk? Don’t worry, I’m WELL on my way.
But first, we have to think about the challenges… quite a few things could be substitutes on this island. ‘Hit and Run’ is very similar to crossing the street, especially at 10th Ave. The average New Yorker deals with ‘The Gauntlet’ a.k.a. subway ride home every night! This is a stretch, but metaphorically we deal with ‘The Wall’ each day at work… someone always trying to pull you down (I know, I know… that’s a weak one)
Here’s the problem though, nothing even comes close to the ‘Eliminator’. Any ideas on how I can train for that?
Anyway, I’m psyched for tomorrow night when we have a new contenders vying to be the next ‘American Gladiator’!

World AIDS Day
December 3, 2007 | Posted by Kiki
In case anyone noticed, Saturday was World AIDS Day… I thought we’d do a little round-up to see how New York City recognized it…
Oh here’s something from NYC.gov: NEW HIV DIAGNOSES RISING IN NEW YORK CITY AMONG YOUNG MEN WHO HAVE SEX WITH MEN ooooo looks like it’s from September.
I did find something for the night before, but doesn’t look like the city (or really anybody) is involved.
Looks like the State Department of Health honored the 20th anniversary of World AIDS Day, but didn’t do anything the day of…
So… it leads me back to my question. Did ANYONE recognize the 20th Anniversary of World AIDS Day on the actual day of?
Certainly not the city

So, Bloomberg ISN’T a Republican?
June 20, 2007 | Posted by Kiki
What?! How can this be? Our Mayor wouldn’t wish-wash over something as important as party affiliation! I mean, I guess I could understand ONE slight, little-bitty switch. That along with $73 million dollars did get him the golden chair… but again? I don’t know if my heart can stand it!
Jumping the Dem boat in ‘01 helped him in NYC, I guess leaving the Republicans is a good idea in this political climate (especially when Republicans don’t even want the Presidents help campaigning)… and he couldn’t very well go back to the Democrats after dissin’ them… hmm, that just leaves the dubious door number 3. (I guess I can see some resemblence to Perot).

Bryant Park: Your Living Room
June 1, 2007 | Posted by Kiki
Only in New York City could you get thousands of people to chill and watch a ball game in a park. They say thousands (I saw hundreds) of people sat and watched probably the best game of the Yankees season. Those who decided to stay strong all the way to the end of the 9th inning got to see everyone JUMP UP! when A-Rod got onto thrid base with a pretty cheeky move.
Here are some pics of the ‘Pinstripes in the Park’ night… what do you say, should New Yorkers demand another one?
